AetherCon III: Speed Painting Duels Web App

To assist with the process of public voting of artists works from the "speed painting" duels at AetherCon III, I have developed for them a web application that is managed via the web by moderator and convention administration, and allows for public voting by attendees of the convention, outputting the duel results (winner, loser, or draw) on a dynamic timed countdown.

This web application can be viewed by clicking here.

Veranthea Codex: Dice

As a part of the Veranthea Codex (by Mike Myler and Rogue Genius Games) Kickstarter campaign, I was asked to create a dice design to be added to the project as a potential add-on. The dice were to be gold with one of the VC logos I designed engraved and set in black ink.

While the project successfully funded, the campaign unfortunately did not raise enough funds to unlock the stretch goal that dice were set at, so these prototype designs are all there will ever be. They were still fun to make, though.

Veranthea Codex: Spoony Jawz, Top Pilot of Trectoyri

Veranthea Codex: Spoony Jawz, Top Pilot of Trectoyri by Mike Myler and Rogue Genius Games is now available for free download. I did the cover layout, graphic design, and layout elements for this book.

Spoony Jawz, hero of a thousand border clashes and pride of the Goblinvania airfleet started life as a smuggler named Bur Snuffbucket. Famed for his luck, youth, and propensity for picking fights with monstrous citizens far larger than himself, Captain Snuffbucket should have had a long and rewarding career as a purveyor of illicit cargo. But no amount of luck is a match for treachery. Bur’s ship was captured, his cargo raided, and the captain himself remanded to royal custody.
Snuffbucket would have died that day, and the world at large believes he did. But Engineer King Vokrix can spot talent, and he offered his prisoner a  choice: execution, or a life in his service (and a chance at revenge) with the newly founded air force.

Officially, Bur Snuffbucket was hanged. On the same day a young cadet named Spoony Jawz enlisted at Smastrik Airfield. It was a goblin’s life in the modern army, and Spoony set about proving himself.
Over the course of his training Spoony emerged uninjured from no less than nineteen crash sites, more than enough to make him officer material. Graduation came early for the talented pilot. In the years afterwards, Captain Spoony acquitted himself admirably. However, his real claim to fame lay in the uncharted aeries of the Drathfire Mountains. Common wisdom held that the dragons were all gone, their nests long since looted, and that nothing lay among those hills but windshear, dwarven cannons, and ruin. Twelve days after sailing into the Drathfires he came out again with only barely enough crew to keep his ship aloft—with a small glittering lizard perched upon his shoulder. He never spoke of the details of his voyage, nor would his crew, but Spoony Jawz was the only successful Egg Hunter in a generation.

This book can be downloaded via DriveThruRPG and RPGNow.

In Veranthea the laws of biology, chemistry, and physics are fundamentally unique and forgiving, allowing for a far wider range of particle reactions not present in any other Material Plane. Cursed and in service to the emperor, His Personage of Golden Fortitude, Shojo Matsumo, a thug and a brute, bound himself in irons to remind him of his promise to serve. Under the emperor's tutelage, Shojo learned to focus his mind and his rage into a refined style. Using the powers of his curse he learned to grow his limbs for extra reach, if only for a few moments. Now in charge of a special squadron—the Spell Thieves, a group tasked with capturing criminal spellcasters, Shojo has become a force to be reckoned with, and earning the honorary title of Master in Irons, finding not just pride but pleasure in the theft of men.

As an add-on for the Snow White (by AAW Games/Adventureaweek.com) Kickstarter campaign, I designed a pair of dice. The two designs are engraved and set in blood red ink on snowy-white/stone-grey dice. The first is a unique snowflake design, and the other is the official Snow White logo I designed (a calligraphic S superimposed over a calligraphic W. The Deck of Miraculous Luck

The Deck of Miraculous Luck that  I created for AAW Games/Adventureaweek.com is now available for purchase.

Many of us have seen it: dumb luck—an event that can only be attributed to a miraculous stroke of serendipity that manifests (almost as if by magic) appearing in the right place at the right time. Some call it fate; others call it the work of the gods. Regardless of the label applied to them, these improbable moments do happen and they can have a tremendous effect on those privy to luck’s sweet embrace.

The Deck of Miraculous Luck consists of 30 cards, each presenting a different lucky effect that simulates those unexpected miraculous moments for player characters. As a meta-mechanic, the deck can also serve as a perfect alternate reward system, providing incentive to players to strive for exceptional endeavors.

This product can be purchased via Adventureaweek.com.
